Recycle

In the meantime I’m recycling further more…. since this fall I follow a costumière training at a local fashion school. This is the beginners course clothes-making. You’ll learn pattern making for clothes and basic sewing techniques. The course is recognized by the association of tailors and fashion schools. After costumière training follows the seamstress training, then you may continue for teacher.
At a local fashion school I took sewing lessons to learn to sew clothes. I made a T-shirt, jacket, pants and two blouses. And meanwhile I saw others busy drawing and making example-pieces …. and that seemed fun, learning the basics …. that’s why I started the course. Without specific purpose and especially to learn more.
You can do it at your own pace, depending on how much time you put into it. On average, participants do exam in two years. Once a year there is a possibility to do exam and you can choose yourself what year you want to do it (depending on whether you have finished everything). For the exam you should also make clothes for yourself, perfect fit for your figure.
For the costumière training you have to draw four “books” with patterns for skirts, pants, blouses and some childrenclothes.
You draw everything to scale for a standard size and your own size. So after you have finishes you have made a basic pattern book for yourself.
Besides drawing you make “example pieces” such as certain pockets, zippers, buttonholes, collars and sleeve finishes. I needed fabric for that, preferably cotton with a print (but no checkered fabric). Since I still haven’t bought new things this month (except food ….) I went looking for an alternative. I found a beautiful old sheet in the closet with flowers …. and you guessed it …. the scissors got hold of it and it is now transformed into pieces of work …..
